KELLY'S REVENGE
SHIRAZ TETRA PAK
Who was Kelly?
'Edward "Ned" Kelly (1855-1880), Australia's
most famous bushranger (what we'd call an outlaw), is equally revered and
reviled as a folk figure in Australia because of his defiance of colonial
authority and the anti-Catholicism many of Irish descent experienced in
early Australia.
He and his gang famously wore armour and
masks they'd either made themselves out of plough shares or had made by a
blacksmith, on a spree of bank robberies, before their capture in a police
shootout at Glenrowan, Victoria.
Ned was hanged at Melbourne Jail on November
11th, 1880, and there have been two feature movies made about his story; one
with Mick Jagger as Ned Kelly in 1970 and another in 2003 with Heath Ledger
in the title roll.
