BANROCK STATION SPARKLING CHARDONNAY
Banrock Station is an eighteen hundred hectare property just north of Kingston-on-Murray in South Australia’s Riverland. The property was originally established for grazing and cropping, but with the River Murray forming its boundary for 12 kilometers, Banrock is even better suited to viticulture. Good thing too. Grazing had stripped the property of vegetation, turning it into an ecological dead zone. When the vineyards were planted a team of environmentalists was brought in to restore the remaining sections to natural habitat.
For every bottle sold, a donation is made to the Banrock Station Wetlands Foundation Canada to support wetland conservation projects.

RECOMMENDATION: Forward fruit characters make this bubbly a real crowd pleaser for any occasion. Sip on its own or with fish courses.
WINEMAKER’S COMMENTS: Only free run juice from night harvested, premium Chardonnay fruit was used. Traditional fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation has resulted in a wine with complexity and softness. Pronounced varietal characteristics of peach and melon show on the nose. The palate is flavoursome and soft with the finesse expected of a fine sparkling wine.

WINE SPECTATOR: "Light and spicy, with mature toasty flavors on a simple frame. Drink now. 40,000 cases made."

TORONTO LIFE: "Very fruity, with floral, peach-apple pie and buttery pasty aromas.  Soft and sweetish, but fresh and ripe with good effervescence."
